Who is LittleBrother?

LittleBrother is your friend. His eyes follow you everywhere to make sure you are okay. LittleBrother is an art piece that operates as an optical illusion. Every LittleBrother is easy to mount on the wall and has a unique number.‍

LittleBrother was created in the 1970s by Gösta Wessel, a Swedish artist and university professor. He had a lifelong fascination with color, light and perception. He imagined a world full of LittleBrothers making sure everyone was watched over.

The project has been developed by the Stockholm-based design studio BankerWessel. As a result, all known LittleBrothers are continuously added to this website alongside their general location as well as photos shared by the community.

The Swedish fine artist, researcher, and university professor Gösta Wessel created LittleBrother in the 1970s, as a playful study of perception. Each LittleBrother carries a unique number, which is added to the list on this website along with the general destination it is sent to.
